Lepestki: a person doesn’t fit in one frame

Concept, identity, interface and prototype

A concept for a video dating platform. Lepestki means “petals” in Russian: a person is made of petals, and each petal is a short video about yourself. The result: an identity, the app’s language, the mechanic, a live demo and a product website.

01

A person is made of petals

A photo gives you one frame and a video shows the person alive, but even one clip isn’t enough: a person doesn’t fit in one frame, they’re made of many. In Lepestki every short video about yourself is a petal, and together they add up to a personality.

Anya has seven petals: exhibitions, running, friends, a silly hat, work, the park — and one thorn, an honest video about what makes her hard to be with.

Anya, 27 · Moscow
7 petals
ExhibitionsI go to exhibitions for the talks afterwards
RunningI run in the morning and stay kind all day
FriendsWe laugh the loudest in the room
The hatI’ll wear anything if it’s funny
WorkSometimes work looks like this
ThornDozing offI can fall asleep mid-film. Any film
The parkThe best weekend is a park and water

02

A mark, a unit and a language made of petals

Everything is built on the petal. The mark is six glass petals in a pinwheel. A single petal is the app’s unit. The loader goes petal, fan, mark. A crimson of its own next to warm paper and near-black, set in Onest. The app’s language is built on verbs around the petal: record, give, tear off, open.

Petals are recorded, given and counted — like Stars in Telegram. Five a day, one per person.

03

A petal instead of a like

A like says “you’ll do,” a petal says “I noticed something important in you.” The person sees exactly what caught your eye, and it’s easy to reply to. You get five petals a day and one per person, so the gesture carries weight.

  1. 01
    Feed

People scroll like Reels. No rejection: not your person, keep scrolling.

  2. 02
    Fan

Tap the video and the person opens into a fan of petals. A sideways swipe spins them around.

  3. 03
    Petal

A swipe up tears off your petal and gives it to the person. They see exactly what caught you.

  4. 04
    Gift

The last petal in every fan is a gift: not sure what caught you, give a gift card.

04

You can touch the mechanic

An interactive prototype with the whole mechanic: an endless feed, a fan of petals, tearing off and giving a petal, a gift at the end of the fan, and sound. It runs right here and on a phone.

  • Scroll people up and down, like Reels
  • Tap a video and the person opens into a fan of petals
  • Swipe sideways to spin the petals
  • Swipe up to tear off a petal and give it
  • Five petals a day, one per person
  • The last petal is a gift card

The product landing page

A tagline that speaks to you directly — “You don’t fit in one frame. You’re made of many” — the mechanic and an FAQ. The first screen is the live demo. There’s a mobile version.

What came out of it

A concept that rests on one image: a person is made of petals. It grew into an identity, the app’s language, a mechanic instead of the like, a live prototype and a product website.

Let’s make something together

Send the task or idea as it is, even as a rough draft. We’ll think about what it could grow into.
