Turnkey CG production for ORIS

Project lead

CG production for the launches of a Swiss watch manufacture — from engineering drawings to finished frames. The team, the pipeline and the visuals of every series are in one pair of hands, so new models appear on screen before they leave production. Everything below is published on oris.ch.

  • Building the team
  • Technical pipeline
  • Quality and visual supervision
  • Communication with the client and the team
  • Schedules and delivery for launch dates

ORIS, render of the Calibre 111 through the sapphire caseback

01 · Models

8 models, 28 variants: renders, campaign stills and films

The work starts before the watches go into production: from engineering drawings we rebuild 3D models of cases, dials, hands, bracelets and straps, do material look-dev, set up the lighting and deliver product renders, campaign stills and CG films.

ProPilot Date, Black

ProPilot, 8 variants

ProPilot Date

A relaunch of the pilot line: a 41 mm case, the signature fluting and three textured dials — black, gray and green. Each color has its own 30-second film, with vertical versions for social media.

A pilot's watch for every day

ProPilot Date: a 41 mm steel case, a textured dial with applied numerals, bracelet or strap. Three dial colors: black, gray and green.

Materials and light

The fluted bezel, the oversized crown and the dial texture demand precise model geometry and fine-tuned materials. The lighting is set up so that the steel and the dial texture read in close-ups.

Turbine fluting

The clean 41 mm case keeps the signature ProPilot fluting, a nod to the turbines of a jet engine. This detail is the main graphic accent of the frames.

02 · Process

From drawing to display

When a new Oris model comes in, the watch itself doesn't exist yet. There are engineering drawings, material samples and a launch date. By that date the watch has to look as convincing on screen as it does on the wrist.

01

Drawing

We build the model down to the smallest detail: case, dial, hands, bracelet links, the engraving on the caseback. Whether the viewer believes the frame depends on this precision.

02

Scene

We tune materials and light so that steel, bronze, mother-of-pearl and suede behave like the real thing. One scene produces product renders, campaign stills and films.

03

Launch

By the announcement the visuals are complete. A new dial color or a limited series appears in the same scene, without a new shoot.

I can build the same kind of production for other objects where every detail matters.
