Tech trends through the Mercedes-Benz EQS

When the special project came out, McKinsey forecast that by 2024 more than half of a person's everyday tasks would go through a conversation with artificial intelligence. Today that is already routine: AI answers, searches, writes and drives. In the car, AI becomes the driver's second pair of eyes: in the EQS, 350 sensors watch the road, the light, the cabin air and even the driver's gaze, and the passenger screen dims if the driver stares at it. In the film, a stream of data gathers into a tunnel of particles and converges into the Mercedes star.

Even then, 71% of customers expected a personal approach from brands, and 76% were disappointed when they didn't get one. In the EQS you feel it in the details: massage seats with dozens of settings, favorite apps that rise to the top level of the Hyperscreen on their own, a range of up to 705 kilometers — more than the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg. In the film, strict geometry melts into soft chrome, like a cabin tuned to one person.

The special project came out on the wave of the EV boom: in 2020 global electric car sales grew by 43% while demand for petrol and diesel cars fell. For the EQS it's not only about the electric drive: cable ducts made from recycled plastic, floor covering made from recycled yarn, navigation that plans the route around charging stops and traffic on its own. In the film, a light grid of energy runs through a tunnel and folds into the outline of the star.
